Our 2nd Class B iPad movie is finally complete! The children all contributed to its production and filming. Thanks so much to all of the families who sent in costumes and props for us to use. It made the whole process a lot easier. I think you'll agree that the children all did a wonderful job! They should all be very proud of themselves. I am certainly very proud of them all!
Once Upon a Time
Well done to all of the boys and girls who presented a project on their chosen future career over the past week. We have found out lots of interesting information about all of the different professions and have had quite a diverse range of career goals! It has been a really interesting experience for the children. Thank you to all the Moms, Dads, families and friends that helped out with the research and preparing the children for their presentations.
A reminder that our Junior Science Fair will take place this Thursday the 15th of November. Children are required to bring their project to school on this day. Parents are not invited to attend this event. It will be taking place in the children's own classroom. You will however be invited to their Senior Science Fair in another couple of years!
Many thanks for your continued help and support with this event.
We have been learning all about Ancient Egypt. I came across this article over the weekend and the children were very interested in it. I promised I would post it to the class blog for them to read for themselves.
Happy reading everyone.
The details of the Junior Science Fair 2018 can be found on our Science Fair page. Just click on the link at the top of the page.
The children will be given slightly less homework each night between now and the Science Fair. This will allow them the opportunity to spend a little time each night researching and developing their project so that it's not all rushed at the last minute, as this can be quite a stressful situation for both the children and their families!
Many thanks for your continued support.
Well done to all the boys and girls for all of the hard work they have put into practising their cursive handwriting since September. I am so impressed with the overall improvement in the standard of handwriting and the care the children are putting into the presentation of their work. Well done 2nd Class B.
A reminder that the children will be on Mid-term break from this coming Thursday, as the school will be closed on Friday for a staff training day. The children will finish as normal at 2:30pm.
Maths Week 2018 runs from October 13th - 21st 2018. Children are invited to complete a Maths Challenge at home this week if they so wish. The challenges for 2nd class can be found listed on our Maths Week page link at the top of this page. The children will also be undertaking various Maths week activities in school this week.
If you would like to find out further information on Maths Week or you would like to see what events are taking place around the country for you and your family, please click on the Maths Week official website link at the top of this page.
There will be a 'Red & White' day in the school tomorrow. The children are encouraged to wear the colours red and white to celebrate the Cork Ladies Camogie win in the All Ireland Final last weekend.
A big thank you to all the parents and guardians that attended the 2nd class parents evening. Caroline and I were delighted with the turn out :) We hope your questions were answered and that you enjoyed meeting us as much as we enjoyed meeting you.
Welcome to 2nd Class B here at C.E.T.N.S. We hope that our class blog will help our friends and families to stay up to date with all we are learning about in school over the coming year.
September is a very exciting time of year, so check back here for regular updates!
